Tony Pulis has provided an injury update on Rudy Gestede and Lewis Wing ahead of Boro’s game against Aston Villa on Saturday (5:30pm).
Gestede was taken off the in first half of the 1-1 draw against Preston with a hamstring injury.
The Benin frontman only recently returned from injury but now faces another spell on the sidelines.
Pulis admitted the 30-year-old is definitely out of this weekend’s clash against his former side, but would not give a timeframe of how long he would be unavailable.
“Rudy won’t be nowhere near fit for Saturday,” Pulis told the media at his pre-match press conference.
Lewis Wing, however, is in contention to feature.
The 23-year-old was also taken off at Deepdale after suffering from illness, but could return when the Villans head to the Riverside.
But Pulis is remaining cautious with the midfielder, who will continue to be assessed by the medical staff.
Wingy, we’re still assessing,” said Pulis.
“Whether we get him involved in this game or rest him and leave him for next weekend, we’ll make a decision.
“I’ll speak to the medical people on that.
“He trained yesterday, but obviously with it being what it was we’ve got to make sure that the kid’s health is first and foremost.”
