Boro’s Championship rivals Swansea are plotting an ambitious January loan move for Martin Braithwaite.
The Dane has been left out of the squad for the last two games as speculation mounts over his future.
Swansea boss Graham Potter is said to be keen on the forward, with a loan move being discussed according to The Sun (December 16, print edition).
The report states Tony Pulis would prefer a sale but could also sanction a loan.
However, the Welsh side would have to cover his full wage package in order for any potential deal to go through.
Braithwaite has divided opinion since his move from Bordeaux.
He started the season with goals against Millwall, Sheffield United and Bristol City as he looked to forge a potent attacking partnership with Britt Assombalonga.
But the 27-year-old handed in a transfer request not long after in order to force a move away.
His form since then has dipped considerably, and Boro have a big decision to make over his future.
