Boro defender Ryan Shotton will face a spell on the sidelines, Tony Pulis has revealed.
The 29-year-old sustained a knee injury during last week’s televised victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
He was ruled out of Tuesday night’s visit of Rotherham and looks set to miss fixtures against his former clubs Derby and Stoke.
It means summer signing Paddy McNair will step up in that right-back role in Shotton’s absence.
“Ryan won’t be fit for a couple of weeks,” Tony Pulis told the media in his pre-match presser.
“He knocked his knee, and we need that to settle down to know exactly what the extent will be.
”But I think he’ll most probably miss the next couple of weeks. He might have an outside chance of making the Stoke game, but we’re more concerned about getting him right first.”
Boro have no other injuries worries ahead of Saturday’s game against Derby.
