The new season kicked off this weekend and amongst all the first team excitement, there were some Boro players out to impress their new loan clubs, so here is a round up of all the action.
Joe Fryer (Stevenage)
Played the full 90 minutes as the League Two side were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw against Newport County. The goalkeeper was named Man of the Match in a post-match Twitter poll, gaining 51% of the votes.
Matthew Elsdon (Inverness)
Another player to play the full match, Elsdon made his fifth appearance for Inverness having already featured in four league cup matches. This game, though, ended in defeat at the hands of Dundee United, courtesy of a 13th minute Paul McMullan penalty.
Callum Cooke (Blackpool)
Highly praised for his performances at Crewe last season, Cooke played 82 minutes for his new side Blackpool as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Bradford.
Robbie Tinkler (Gateshead)
The midfielder was introduced just after half-time, but couldn’t prevent the Heed from losing to Woking on the opening day of the National League season.
Harry Chapman (Blackburn)
Chapman played just over 15 minutes for Rovers against Southend having only signed for the club on Friday. The 19-year-old will be hoping to make it three successive promotions, but his new side didn’t get off to the best start in League One as they were defeated 2-1.
Joao Morelli (FC Levadia)
Scored a hat-trick for the Estonian side in their 8-0 win against Paide. That’s now 11 goals in 14 appearances for the Brazilian, making him their second top scorer.
