Two points off the bottom three – time for changes?

“We have to realise we are right in a battle now.” Those were the harrowing words of Boro defender Daniel Ayala earlier this week – but he certainly wasn’t wrong.

After just two wins in 11 games Boro find themselves 20th in the table, already languishing behind the league’s mid-table crop, so it’s easy to see why that message has been relayed to the press.

When Woodgate was appointed in June, not many predicted a prosperous promotion push or anything close, but perhaps they didn’t expect this.

Granted, it’s early days, but Boro look devoid of confidence, are crumbling at the seams defensively, and still have significant areas of weakness yet to be addressed.

And it was all discussed by the Boro Breakdown team, who had several bones to pick in an honest and passionate podcast episode this week.

Where are Boro going wrong? What can be done to fix it? Is change needed behind the scenes?

Also discussed: The defeat to Birmingham, playing in Woodgate’s system, the need for a Director of Football.
