A steady improvement, but work to be done

Two games, one point and no goals scored. But how? That was the biggest conundrum this week as Boro failed to match result to performance against West Brom and Huddersfield.

Although there is still obvious work to be done, Boro fans can be pleased with two promising displays – one of which against one of the league’s big hitters in West Brom.

The returning 3-5-2 set-up more than matched Slavisia Jokanovic’s table topping side, and, had it not been for another costly miss they would have taken a deserved point.

Then came Huddersfield where Boro were left to rue missed chances again with Daniel Ayala powering a header over in the first half and… yep, that miss.

A miss from Ashley Fletcher that even Nwankwo Kanu would be proud of.

The Boro Breakdown trio tried to wrap their heads around how the ball didn’t hit the back of the net, and what they thought of Woodgate’s changed tactics.

Is 4-3-3 now in the past? Should Ayala be given a new deal? Was Tony Pulis taken for granted? Is there still reason to worry?

It was all discussed on this week’s episode.
