Loan Watch – Weather wreaks havoc, Chapman continues road to recovery

Loan Round-Up:

Fletcher leads the line…

Ashley Fletcher returned to the starting line-up for Sunderland’s trip to Millwall after watching his current club and parent club battle it out in an action-packed derby from the stands last week.

He started at the Den and led the line for the full match as Sunderland squandered a winning position (again) to draw.

WhoScored rated Fletcher’s performance a 6.9 continued to by no shots at goal, a 43% passing accuracy, 3 dribbles, 8 aerials won and twice being dispossessed.

Chapman’s recovery progressing…

Harry Chapman hasn’t featured in the loan watch since before Christmas, but the 20-year-old has been making good progress on the hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined since and recently took to Twitter to share an update.

On Chapman’s recovery, Blackburn managed Tony Mowbray said:  “He’s good, we hope that he’ll be back here full-time within the next week to 10 days.

“He’s just about ready to start training after doing most of his rehab at Middlesbrough. I’m hoping he’ll be back on the grass soon, and we’ll assess how much he has to do after that.

“Just to have him around the place is good, he’s a chirpy lad and the other players love him. I think if we can get him back, get him on the bench to start with, he can be a game-changer for us.

“It will be great to have that if we can; bit-by-bit, he’ll get back up to speed.”

And the rest…

Marcus Tavernier remains sidelined and missed Mk Dons’ game against Bristol City as he ‘continues to be monitored by the medical team’.

Julien de Sart was watching the televised Boro game on Friday night, and on Saturday he was a spectator again after being left out of Zulte Waregem’s squad to face Anderlecht.

Martin Braithwaite started for Bordeaux against Monaco despite criticism over his performance against Nice. He played the full match in the 2-1 defeat.
