Loan Watch – Ripley stars for Stanley, Miller scores again

Ripley to the rescue…

Connor Ripley had become well esteemed for the role he played at Oldham Athletic the season before last – and he’s making himself quite the figure at current club Accrington Stanley.

The 25-year-old and his teammates faced a tough prospect up against a Walsall side who were above them in the table, and just outside of the play-off places.

But Stanley prevailed  – largely down to the heroics of Ripley.

The goalkeeper made a number of impressive saves – as shown in the video below – to see the 1-0 scoreline out.

Miller makes it two in two…

George Miller notched his first Bradford goal against Doncaster last week, and followed that up with another goal this week.

It came against Everton’s Under-21 side in the somewhat controversial EFL Cup.

The striker swept home a cross from Anthony O’Connor in stoppage time to force the tie to penalties.

Miller stepped up in the shoot-out, scoring the fifth Bradford penalty before watching on as Toffees youngster Manasse Mampala missed and teenager Eliot Goldthorp scored to send the League One side through.

Following that came a league tie against Bristol Rovers, in which Miller started and was taken off just before full-time. The game ended 0-0.

And the rest…

Luke Armstrong missed Gateshead’s victory over Barrow on Tuesday night, and the defeat to Eastleigh on Saturday, due to a hamstring injury.

Aynsley Pears started both games for the Heed, who sit ninth in the National League table.

Hayden Coulson was not involved in St. Mirren’s defeat to Hibernian on Saturday as the youngster was recovering from the injury that forced him off in the previous game against Hamilton.

Alex Pattison played the full 90 minutes in Yeovil’s 1-1 draw against Milton Keynes Dons but in the 3-1 defeat to Crawley Town, the 21-year-old played just 34 minutes.

Nathan McGinley started and played the full game against Maccelsfield Town, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Marvin Johnson started on the bench for Sheffield United against Millwall but came on with 15 minutes left to play as the Blades snatched a late 3-2 victory.

Enes Mahmutovic was an unused substitute in Yeovil’s draw against MK Dons on Saturday, but played the full 90 minutes in the following game against Crawley.
