Patto’s penalty woe…
Alex Pattison was in EFL Trophy action against fellow League Two side Exeter City this week.
Yeovil came into the game in good form having been unbeaten in their last four games, but Exeter – who sit third in the league – proved difficult for the Glovers to break down.
Despite numerous chances, the two sides couldn’t be separated in normal time – which meant penalties ensued. Pattison stepped up to take the visitor’s fourth spot kick.
But unfortunately for the Boro youngster, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Thursday, his penalty was saved by Exeter keeper James Hamon.
The Grecians then went onto score their next two penalties whilst Yeovil missed another to earn a point according to the rules of the competition.
And the rest…
Luke Armstrong, recently named Gateshead’s Player of the Month for August, didn’t feature against Harrogate Town and Ebbsfleet this week due to a hamstring injury.
Aynsley Pears played the full 90 minutes in both of those games. The first, a 3-2 defeat to table-topping Harrogate in a keenly contested affair at Wetherby Road. Following that, Pears kept his second clean sheet in three games in what was a narrow 1-0 victory against Ebbsfleet.
George Miller played 62 minutes for Bradford on Saturday but was unable to get on the scoresheet as they let a two goal lead slip within the final 10 minutes to lose 3-2 against Blackpool.
Connor Ripley was in between the sticks for Accrington Stanley in their 1-1 draw against Burton Albion – their fourth one-all draw in five games.
