Grant Leadbitter departed Boro for Sunderland this week. A rather forgone conclusion, but it left the Teesside faithful momentarily somber nonetheless.
The Boro Breakdown team sat down to reflect on Leadbitter’s time at the club, which produced 244 battling performances in the heart of midfield.
Boro enjoyed seven precious years with the Magic Mackem, which ultimately lead to success – automatic promotion in the 2015/16 season.
The post-match elation spoke volumes of Leadbitter’s efforts. A typically grounded personality, the phrase ‘that’s football’ spoken after any given result is engraved into the identity of the very man he is.
But the memory of him sat aloft one fans’ shoulders starting a celebratory chant was a far cry away from the lonesome dejected figure we saw watch Norwich lift the play-off trophy not even 12 months prior.

Jonny, Elliott and Dana gave their thoughts on the latest Boro Breakdown, and also talked Newport, transfers, Boro’s current predicament and West Brom away.
